You clearly are fuzzy-minded and I don't mean that in the programming sense. You still see through a glass darkly. That's all the time I'm going to waste on someone like you.

Nicole, yes, "pedestrian controlled intersection" was the phrase they always gave us, but nobody could explain what that meant (aside from that if the pedestrian pushed the button, the light would change).

If you are driving, you don't really care *why* the light changed, just whether it changed or not. However, you do really care if cars might cross on what looks to you like a green for you/red for them.

Its not just Vancouver that has flashing green pedestrian signals, most other cities in BC use them. Kelowna has at least a dozen of them. Vanvouver has more per capita though, because of all its pedestrian traffic.

I live in bc, and a solid green means go and a flashing green means pedestrian controlled intersection. I was originally from Manitoba and this took some getting used to but it seems to work well. It would be nice if all the laws were uniform though.

I LOVE this rug that you designed! I'm similarly fascinated by languages - mostly natural, some machine - so to see a fairly thorough effort put into this excites me... In particular, the unicode snowman (I have it and the Look of Disapproval each printed out on letter-size paper and hung it up behind me in our open-office setup (I get comments about it for sure!)), the Japanese and Chinese phonetic characters, and finally, what a nice touch to have the happy face right in the middle of the rug. Love it :D

I'm irrelevantly reminded of an episode of MASH. Colonel Potter, annoyed that Mulcahy's promotion has not gone through, calls the chief of chaplains at the Pentagon; and remarks in an aside to Radar, "Answers his own phone! Must be a Unitarian."
